Argentina beat Venezuela 2-0 in the quarter-final of the Copa America 2019 which is held in Brazil. Lionel Messi and his side will next face the hosts, Brazil, in the semi-final.

Despite the victory, Messi has not been the best performer for his national team. Instead it has been Sergio Aguero and Lautaro Martínez who are bringing in the goals for La Albiceleste and leading him to victories.

Speaking to the media after the match, the Barcelona man complained about the condition of the pitch and voiced his unhappiness. He mentioned,

“In truth, the pitches are shameful. It is hard to control the ball and carry it. “

“The ball looked like a rabbit, it goes all over the place with this pitch. All we can do is adapt.”

“The pitches are awful. That doesn’t help keep possession, you need a second longer, it bounces poorly, you cannot lead. “

“But we played a complete game and we were able to win.”

The 32-year-old attacker also admitted that this is not his best performance in Copa America and it appears that the pitch has a role to play in his subpar performances.

Messi will be hoping to lead his national side to a trophy as they take on Brazil at Estadio Mineirao on Tuesday.
