Who is involved?

According to various reports, the Tottenham midfielder’s family was seen looking for a house in Madrid. Earlier, the Dane confirmed that he is seeking a new adventure after spending 6 years at Tottenham.

What has happened?

The 27-year-old guided Tottenham to the UEFA Champions League final where they lost to Liverpool. Real Madrid are reportedly keen to sign him but the Spanish club are currently in the midst of offloading players before signing even more.

Zinedine Zidane has already brought in Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and more as he looks to improve the squad. If Eriksen does join the Madrid club, fans could see two best midfielders playing alongside each other – Hazard and Eriksen. To add, Paul Pogba is also said to be interested in playing under Zinedine.

The Spurs’ midfielder has a contract until June 2020 and if he does not renew his contract, he will leave on a free transfer next summer. Meanwhile, the Lilywhites are set to sign their first player in over 500 days. Tottenham had invested a huge amount of money to build a new stadium and funds have been tight. With the stadium completed, Mauricio Pochettino now wants to bring in new players such as Tanguy Ndombele to boost his squad and compete for trophies.

What might happen?

With Eriksen preferring to join Real Madrid this summer, Tottenham could be forced to sell him if the price is right rather than let him leave for free.
